Simone Rocha creates the types of romantic; whimsical dresses you might imagine existing in fairytales. Instead, they’re constructed from billowing transparent tulle and floral appliqués (primarily in red, blush pink, ivory and black), and are often oversized in bold sculptural shapes.
The London-based, Irish-born designer has become a fashion wunderkind, beloved for her romantic creations. Now, she’s opened her second ever store (and first in America), on Soho’s infamous Wooster Street. Just steps away from Céline and Byredo, Rocha’s boutique is a veritable playground of her inspiration, favorite things, and impeccable taste. A giant, wrought iron cage houses some of Rocha’s more floral-focused dresses, while a Perspex cubed bookcase is full of honeycomb sculptures. An homage to the pieces that influence Rocha’s work, there is also Louise Bourgeois artworks and photography rests on the marble countertop. Rocha’s lesser known bags and shoes run along the back wall, while her oversized pearl jewelry sits atop plump, blush pink cushions.
