The Volon

Every fashion month, a new bag emerges as the style du jour. This season, amongst the parades of J.W. Anderson pierce bags, Balenciaga’s Bazar and Loewe everything, bags from new label The Volon appeared swinging from almost everyone’s arm. They’ve been spotted on Hanne Gaby Odiele, Jeanne Damas and Natasha Goldberg, either swinging from their shoulders or carried via the top handle. And with a signature box-style in color blocked candy hues often adorned in tassels, these bags aren’t exactly wallflowers.

Heralding from Seoul, The Volon is the creation of creative director, E.J. a former cellist and interior designer who in 2013, turned to fashion. Inspired by the balance between classic and modern, fashion and art, her mission is to create sophisticated bags for customers who have a true appreciation for fashion and design. Fittingly, the name ‘The Volon’ is taken from a phrase by philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau: “Le volonté de tous,” which means ‘the will of all and it is the total of what one individual wants.’

Currently, the line offers a signature box bag (which comes with a long shoulder strap) in different sizes and modernist clutches. What sets them apart are the unique and whimsical designs, fringing, and colors that adorn different styles. These are more than bags, they’re statement makers.
